Cocktails are the essences to a great party or mixer. I’ve always believed this while attending parties, as well as, staring bartending school back in 2013. We are at the time of the year; were there are numerous parties that are being planned, scheduled, and happening around the world. People might believe that the décor is the center of the party; however, your food and especially the cocktails are the center and the go to of the party. (Please remember to drink responsibly and please do not drink and drive.)

In an effort, to pull your holiday party off with a sparkle; many people go with a festive or fun-color palette or theme. Because it’s the start of the holiday season; let’s go with The New Year’s Eve holiday party as an example. To start with a color theme, many people can go with Gold, Silver, Glitter, Pinks, and of course, Black. Most person whom plan a party will have all types of drinks but the one thing that will and can be the center of your party can also be a signature drink!

“Signature drinks are any unique or original drink that expresses the nature of the person or establishment creating it. They can be fashioned on designed to represent a theme or color.”

While developing content for this blog for my readers for the holidays; I researched several drink ideas and bartending apps that I love and are favorable to me when I am mixing drinks for my sister-friends and family. In an effort, to get you in the holiday and fun festive spirit; my go to drink apps and websites now are bartender lib, tipsy bartender, cocktails: become a real bartender, Pinterest, and http://www.stirandscribble.com. For this topic, my go to drink for this blog came from http://www.stirandscribble.com. The selected drink is called “The Dirty Shirley!” I chose this drink for the red color and the twist on a virgin drink that could be used for two types of party-goers, those that drink and your non-drinkers.

“The Dirty Shirley” recipe is composed of PLENTY of alcohol. If you are making this drink, I suggest using a rocks glass instead of a highball glass. The difference in the glassware is the height. When making a specialty/signature drink for your party; make sure that you have all supplies for the suggestive servings. The recipe provided is for one serving:

Ice
1 ounce of vodka
½ ounce of Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine cherry liquor (if you cannot locate this type of alcohol; you can substitute it for a berry liquor)
½ ounce grenadine
Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine Cherries, for garnish
Soda Water

This drink is the perfect twist to an oldie but goodie! Photo and recipe courtesy of Stir and Scribble
